Lenovo Phab 2 Pro: The craziest phone of the year?
Lenovo has introduced the Phab 2 Pro as part of its in-house exhibition Tech World - an augmented reality phone. Project Tango is Google's augmented reality platform, which will open up entirely new ways to interact with the room. The Phab 2 Pro Camera has sensors, with which the phone recognizes the depth of the room, so it is approximately possible to measure the distance from the device to the nearest wall. The phone should also be able to reconize its current position, to get to know the owner's property better for example. The Phab 2 Pro is fast enough to show real-time virtual objects in the room. Lenovo presented the impressively with a furnishing assistant. The user holds the camera in the room and can place three-dimensional chairs, cabinets and tables to scale on the screen - that could fundamentally change the way to set up apartments. To the official presentation in June Lenovo announced to bring the smartphone in September for $ 499 on the market. At least in the US, the product page has now been updated. It says of a release in the fall, but on Lenovo.de the message will continue "from this summer available". Since the summe will be over in a few days, this statement may be doubted. When the phablet actually will be released remains unclear.
